How to Count the Days Between Two Dates

Choose a first date and a second date. The order doesn't matter — if the second date comes earlier, the tool simply counts the gap the other way. The big number is the total number of days, and beneath it you'll see the number of full weeks, the weekdays (Monday to Friday), and the weekend days in that period. The page opens with today's date and a date two weeks ahead, so you can see how it works straight away.

Should You Include the Start and End Dates?

By default the tool counts the days between the dates, so 1 January to 25 December 2026 is 358 days, or 51 full weeks. Tick Include both start and end date in the count to count every calendar day in the range, including the first and the last — 1 January to 31 December 2026 is 364 days by default and 365 when both ends are included. The weekday and weekend tallies follow the same setting: 1 June to 15 June 2026 is 14 days, made up of 10 weekdays and 4 weekend days, and ticking the box makes it 15 days with the end date counted too.

Which to choose depends on the situation. Counting the nights of a hotel stay or the time elapsed between two events usually means leaving the box unticked, while a booking, a contract period, or a streak measured in calendar days usually counts both ends.
