How to Convert Markdown to HTML

Paste your Markdown into the box, or click Upload .md file to load one, and the HTML appears as you type. Switch between the HTML tab, which shows the code, and the Preview tab, which shows the rendered result. Choose HTML fragment for just the converted content, or Complete HTML page for a full document with a title taken from your first heading. Then click Copy HTML or Download .html. Load sample shows an example that uses most of the supported features.

What It Supports

The converter handles headings, bold, italic, and strikethrough text, inline code and code blocks with an optional language name, links and images — including reference-style ones — ordered, unordered, nested, and task lists, blockquotes, horizontal rules, and tables with left, centre, and right alignment. Bare web addresses become links automatically. Three options adjust the result: turn single line breaks into br tags, add id attributes to headings so you can link to them, and decide whether raw HTML in your Markdown is passed through.

Raw HTML passes through unchanged and isn't sanitised, so if the Markdown isn't yours, untick that option or review the output before publishing it. Links that start with javascript: are always neutralised. The preview runs in a locked-down frame where scripts can't execute. The converter covers the everyday syntax well, but unusual edge cases may render slightly differently from other Markdown tools such as GitHub's.
