Turn a Unix timestamp into a readable date, or a date into a timestamp — in seconds or milliseconds. There's also a live counter showing the current timestamp, which is handy when you're debugging logs, APIs, and databases.
How to Convert a Unix Timestamp
To convert a timestamp to a date, paste it into the Timestamp to Date box and choose Seconds or Milliseconds. The date appears in UTC and in your local time zone. For example, 1735689600 seconds is Wednesday, 1 January 2025, 00:00:00 UTC. To go the other way, choose a date and time in the Date to Timestamp box (it's read as your local time) and you'll get the value in both seconds and milliseconds. The counter at the top shows the current timestamp in seconds, and Use this timestamp below copies it into the converter. If you type something that isn't a number, or a value that's too large to be a date, the tool tells you.
What Is a Unix Timestamp?
A Unix timestamp counts the seconds that have passed since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970, known as the Unix epoch. Because it's a single number that doesn't depend on any time zone, it's a popular way for software to store and compare moments in time. Dates before 1970 are negative numbers. Timestamps in seconds are currently 10 digits long, while JavaScript and many APIs use milliseconds, which give 13 digits — if your converted date looks like January 1970, you probably chose Seconds for a value that is really in milliseconds. Systems that store the value as a 32-bit signed integer run out at 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038, which is the well-known Year 2038 problem.
Good Uses for This Tool
Reading timestamps in server logs and database rows, checking token and cookie expiry times, testing APIs that use epoch time, and generating timestamps for scripts and scheduled tasks.
Is It Actually Private?
Yes. Every conversion runs in your browser — the values you enter are never sent to a server or stored.
