Ping Tester
Test connection latency to a server.
Processed securely on our server, files deleted afterPing Tester — Check If a Host Is Reachable and How Fast It Responds
Test whether a website or server is up and how quickly it answers. Enter a hostname or IP address and the tool sends test requests and reports the minimum, average, and maximum response time, plus any packet loss.
How to Run a Ping Test
Type a hostname such as example.com or an IP address such as 8.8.8.8 — if you paste a full web address, the https:// and path are stripped for you — and click Run test. The tool sends four requests and shows the fastest, average, and slowest response times in milliseconds, along with the percentage of requests that got no answer. When a real ping is used, the raw output is shown underneath. A lower time means a quicker response, and any packet loss suggests an unreliable connection or a host that's overloaded.
What the Test Measures
The test runs from our server, not from your device, so it shows how well the target host responds from there rather than how good your own connection is. When the server allows it, the tool uses a real ICMP ping. When that isn't available, it falls back to timing a TCP connection to the host on port 80, then port 443, and clearly labels the result as TCP connection latency, because it measures a slightly different thing from ICMP. Some servers and firewalls deliberately ignore ping requests, so a host that shows no reply might still be perfectly healthy — try it in your browser to be sure. To check your own connection, use the Internet Speed Tester instead.
Good Uses for This Tool
Checking whether a website or server is down for everyone, comparing response times of different hosts or servers, troubleshooting network problems, and confirming that a new server or domain is answering.
What Happens to the Host You Enter?
Unlike most tools on this site, this one runs on our server: the hostname or address you enter is sent there, and the server contacts that host to run the test. Only valid hostnames and IP addresses are accepted.
