Random Picker — Pick a Random Name or Item From a List

Paste in a list and let chance choose. Whether it's a raffle winner, who does the dishes, or where to eat tonight, the Random Picker draws one item at random with a single click.

How to Pick a Random Item

Type or paste your list into the box, one item per line — the box starts with Alice, Bob, Charlie, and Dana so you can try it straight away. Click Pick random item and the winner appears in the Winner panel. Blank lines are ignored, and you can edit the list at any time. If you tick Remove winner after picking, each winner is taken out of the list, so you can click again to draw a second, third, or fourth winner without repeats. Reset list brings your full list back.

Fairness and Tips

Every line has an equal chance of being chosen, decided by your browser's random number generator. If the same name appears twice it counts as two entries and has double the chance, which is handy for weighting a draw — or something to watch for if you pasted a list with duplicates by accident. If you untick the removal option you can keep drawing from the same full list, and if you remove every item the tool tells you the list is empty and asks you to reset it. Your list isn't saved, so it disappears when you leave the page.

Good Uses for This Tool

Choosing giveaway and raffle winners, assigning chores and tasks, deciding who presents or goes first, picking a restaurant or a film, drawing names for a gift exchange, and selecting students for a classroom activity.

Is It Actually Private?

Yes. Your list is used only in your browser — the names and items you enter are never sent to a server or stored.
