How to Create an Invoice

Start with the invoice number, the date, and the due date, which opens 30 days after today, and pick a currency: dollars, pounds, euros, Indian rupees, or Pakistani rupees. Enter your details and the client's details, then add a line for each product or service with a description, quantity, and unit price — use Add line item for more rows and the × to remove one. Add a tax or VAT percentage, an optional discount, and any notes or payment terms, such as your bank details. The invoice preview updates as you type.

Saving and Sending Your Invoice

Click Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in your browser's print window to get a PDF you can email, or click Download as HTML to keep an editable file. The totals work like this: line amounts are added to give the subtotal, the discount percentage is taken off the subtotal, and the tax percentage is then applied to the discounted amount to give the final total. The tool uses a single tax rate for the whole invoice.

Invoice requirements — tax registration numbers, wording, and numbering rules — differ from country to country, so add any details your local rules call for in the notes or your own details box. The tool doesn't save your invoice, so print or download it before you close the page.
